  Text: Joe G. Mondragon, 77, passed away on April 14, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Born on July 29, 1929 in Phoenix, he was the youngest of nine children and lived in Arizona all of his life. He attended Phoenix Union High School and Phoenix College, and later entered the Army and served in the Korean War. Joe was a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service and retired after 27 years of service. After retiring in 1988, he worked as a real estate agent before becoming ill. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Amelia and son Joe M. Mondragon. He is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Krahl and Cathy Mondragon-Shears, his sister Elisa Apodaca, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Known as "Tata" and "Uncle Joe", he will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him. Visitation will be Thursday, April 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 20 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Agnes, 1954 N. 24th St., Phoenix with Interment following at St. Francis Cemetery.
